Training - High Voltage



TARGET AUDIENCE:

The course is designed for officers in charge of an engineering watch and electro-technical officers employed on various ships and offshore installations.

PREREQUISITES:

  • ID or passport
  • 1 passport-sized colour photograph
  • Appropriate training or experience in maritime electrical and electronic systems

CERTIFICATION:

After successful completion of the course candidates will receive a certificate on High Voltage Training Course.

VALIDATION:

Certificates are valid for 5 years

 

OPERATIONAL LEVEL

COURSE OBJECTIVE:

This course will give knowledge and understanding of maritime HV installations and safety working procedures. The course will emphasize the safety aspect of electrical engineering work, recommendation on good safe practices, procedures and precautions be taken to maximize the safety of personnel.
This course complies with STCW Regulations III/1 and III/6, Sections A-III/1 and
A-III/6, Guidance B-III/1 and B-III/6
 

COURSE CONTENT:

  • international requisites for high voltage knowledge
  • electrical hazards to the human body
  • high voltage equipment on board
  • procedures to minimase risk while working on HV systems
  • safe working procedures
  • protective devices
  • high voltage electrical equipment testing methods
  • high voltage equipment maintenance
  • actions during faults
  • practical excercises on real HV equipment

DURATION:

  • 2 days
