Scope (Target audience) : This course is intended to provide shipboard personnel with detailed knowledge in bilge water/waste oil management and marine pollution prevention.This Course is based  on existing  MARPOL 73/78 Convection, Annex I, Chapter II, Regulations 9, 10, 11, 12 and 20 the U.S. Clean Water Act and other relevant rules and regulations on pollution prevention by various port state and flag state authorities.

Objective : The trainees who successfully complete this course will have gained experience in handling ships under various conditions and will make a more effective contribution to the bridge team during ship maneuvering.

Course content : 

  • Review of basic principles
  • Familiarization with the bridge
  • Standard manoeuvres
  • Wind and current effects
  • Shallow-water effects
  • Bank, channel and interaction effects
  • Anchoring and single-buoy mooring
  • Planning and carrying out a voyage

Duration: 30 hours

Prerequisite : 

  • Identification card or passport
