Scope (Target audience) : This course has been designed to meet the requirements of STCW Regulation I/12, Sections A-III/1&2 and A&B-VIII/2 and is based on the guidelines at IMO Model Course 2.07.This course is intended for personnel with an engineering background. It is suitable for senior engineering officers, engineering officers preparing for promotion to senior ranks, company superintendents and managers.Program can be tailored to specific shipping company operations.
Objective : The trainees will learn to make use of effective engine room procedures, become familiar with the manoeuvring characteristics of the ship model and its response to the engine and helm in various conditions. They will assume different roles of the engine room watchkeeping team. By rotating roles, each trainee will be given the opportunity to act as Chief Engineer.
