Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats Operations STCW VI/2-2

Scope (Target audience) : Fast rescue boat course has been designed to meet the requirements of STCW section VI/2-2 and is based on the guidelines of IMO Model Course 1.24.
Course is open to all seafarers who are designated to take charge of a fast rescue boat.

Objective : After successful completion of the course, the trainees will be competent to handle and take charge of fast rescue boat launching procedures.

Course content : 

  • Introduction and safety
  • Constructions and outfit of fast rescue boats and individual items of their equipment
  • Particular characteristics and facilities of fast rescue boats
  • Navigation and safety equipment available in fast rescue boat
  • Safety precautions during lunch and recovering of a fast rescue boat
  • How to handle a fast rescue boat in prevailing and adverse weather and sea conditions
  • Procedures for righting a capsized fast rescue boat
  • Search patterns and environmental factors affecting their execution
  • Assessment of readiness of fast rescue boats and related equipment for immediate use
  • Knowledge of the maintenance, emergency repairs, normal inflation and deflation of buoyancy compartments of inflated fast rescue boats
  • Methods of starting and operating a fast rescue boat engine and its accessories

Duration: 24 hours

Prerequisite : 

  • Identification card or passport
  • 2 passport size colored photographs
  • Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats certificate

Note to client : After successful completion of the course, understanding rescue boat SOLAS requirements and examination candidates will receive a Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats Operations certificate.
